Liam is 2 Weeks old!

Liam is 2 weeks old! Maddie still loves to hold her baby brother and help Mommy take care of him. Liam was happy while Maddie was holding him, then once we got the camera out, he started crying. As you can tell the crying doesn't bother Maddie at all, she is still all smiles.

Liam is really beginning to like to sit in his bouncy seat. Maddie likes to put the rattle on his arm, so he has a toy to play with, because it is too big for his hand to fit in it. He is already becoming more alert and beginning to notice his hands.

Liam meets the Moore's

On Saturday morning, we went over to Scott's parents house so that Liam could meet his Aunt Aimee, Uncle Byron, and cousins, Leah and Brendan. Leah really liked holding Liam. She thought he was, "So CUTE!" She also asked Maddie how she like her, "Big surprise." Maddie said, "I like my big surprise." You just have to laugh at the conversations of a two year old and a three year old.

Liam likes being held by his Aunt Aimee. Aimee made Liam the cutest quilt. I can't wait for him to use it. Thank you, Aunt Aimee!

20 Years of Bright Parade

Twenty years ago my parents along with a family friend started the annual Bright Parade to help build excitement for the Bright Volunteer Fire Department's Festival. Well, every year, my parents try to come up with a theme and then build a float around that theme. This year for the 20th year, they went all out. Their Andy Griffith Show themed float was a success.

Maddie and Kaylynn enjoyed watching the parade this year despite the heat. She got lots of candy!! Can't wait until next year, when Liam will be able to watch the parade with us.

Liam at 1 Week Old

Last Wednesday morning, I snapped this picture of Liam at 1 week old. Everything is going pretty well. He is sleeping well at night. He sleeps from 9:00-2:00, then from 3:00-6:30 at night, so I feel as though I am getting enough sleep to function. I can't believe Liam will already be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I already feel that time is going by so quickly.

First Days at Home

On Friday, when Maddie got up from her nap, she was dying to hold Liam. So this is her...for the 3rd day in her big sister shirt. (She refused to wear any other shirt for her nana.) Liam liked it at first because she was singing to him, then he got angry and by her face you can see that she is extremely surprised by how loud he can cry.

Saturday and Sunday were interesting. Scott and I were busy trying to keep our growing boy full while giving Maddie attention, but we survived!

Here is a picture of Maddie and Liam lounging on the bed while I try to pick up the room a bit!

Introducing...LIAM SCOTT RUWE!

Liam Scott Ruwe joined our family on Wednesday, July 14th at 8:54 in the morning. He was 7 pounds, 14 ounces and 21 inches long. Labor and delivery had its complicated moments, but we are so blessed to have a healthy baby boy.

Of course, Miss Maddie loves her little brother! Her nana had taken her shopping to get some clothes for Liam and she was so proud of everything that she had picked out. She picked out all of the outfits by choosing the ones with her favorite animals on them like hippos and alligators. Maddie has been a great helper!! She is still trying to figure out how mommy nurses Liam. This will make for an interesting conversation with a two-year old.

Here we are with Liam right before we left the hospital on Friday morning. With all of the excitement, we did not get a family picture of the four of us yet. Looking forward to getting one soon.

Corn on the Cob

Last week, I bought some corn on the cob at Krogers and Maddie was actually interested in eating it. It ending up being such a hilarious first that Scott and I decided we had to snap some pictures of this! I am really surprised there is not butter running down her chin in these pictures because she just kept on wanting to put more and more butter on her ear of corn.

Movie Night

On Monday evening, Scott and I decided to have our first family movie evening with Maddie. When I was little, my family would do this on some Saturday nights and I remember how much fun it was!! So when Maddie got up from her nap, we asked her what type of snacks she would like to eat for dinner. We needed up settling on a tray of apple slices, peanuts, and Cheez-Its. Then Maddie chose to watch the movie Incredibles. Maddie was so excited to have a picnic in the living room. We even talked Daddy into making popcorn for us during the movie.

Scott and I are thinking this will be a special treat to do for Maddie every now and again once the baby comes, so she can have her own special time with Mommy and Daddy.
